Hi All,

I have installed Fedora 8 on my Dell inspiron 1525 laptop. The operating system is working fine for me.
Now I want to install xemacs on it. I have tried to look for instructions using internet but could find the instructions specific for fedora 8. I tried various other methods used to install xemacs for the previous versions but could not succeed. Can some-one please guide me how can install xemacs in this particular version.

Thanks a lot in advance for any kind of help.

With Regards
Suneel

Did you try the software updater? Or yum install xemacs from the command line?

Maybe you must enable the full repository for Fedora, not sure about it since they have now one big combined one and no extras repository anymore. In any case, http://rpm.pbone.net/ is your friend here. Of course I found a package for xemacs at pbone.net: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/ ... 6.rpm.html

It has some dependencies which you also need to pick up and better you get yum using the right repo instead of downloading all the files. If you do however, I suggest to use the advanced search function to enable only Fedora 8.

What is the minimum system requirement for installing Fedora or Debian ? I have a legacy computer which running windows 98 with 160 MB memory, Pentium III Processor and 8 MB Graphical RAM .
Could anyone can tell me which version of Linux is better to install for reasonable performance ? And what kind of of tweak should I do after installation ?
